BY CAR
Take the A1 motorway (Bologna-Firenze) and exit at the tollgate of Barberino di Mugello then follow the signs to Scarperia.
If you are coming from Bologna, exit at the tollgate of Pian del Voglio then follow the signs to Scarperia passing through Bruscoli, Passo della Futa, Panna, Galliano, and finally Scarperia.
If you are coming from Florence we recommend taking the State Road 302 "Faentina" and going through Fiesole, Polcanto, Borgo San Lorenzo, Luco, as far as Scarperia; otherwise you can take the Via "Bolognese” as far as Pratolino where an itinerary starts that takes visitors over the tracks of the Medici family who were originally from the Mugello area and owned an infinite number of lands, houses, towers, villas and castles. Continuing along the Via Bolognese, you come to San Piero a Sieve where you can admire the 16th-century Fortress of San Martino built by Cosimo 1st, Grand-Duke of Tuscany, to guard over the Mugello Valley, after which you arrive in Scarperia with its 14th-century Palazzo dei Vicari.
